3 days full of experiences
in the heart of East Frisia
Day I – Breakfast by the Lake & Fish Sandwiches at the Harbor
Start your day in a relaxed way: order fresh rolls delivered directly to Lake Friesensee. Grab your favorite drink, sit by the lake, and enjoy the sunrise over the water – pure holiday vibes!
Once energized, you can rent bikes from our rental dock and take a cycling trip to Carolinensiel (approx. 20 km). There, you’ll find charming harbor houses, cozy cafés, delicious fish sandwiches, and a cute beach bar – highly recommended!
On the way back, a detour to the nearby outdoor pool is worth it on warm days. Simply pick up discount cards at the reception – not only do you save a bit, but you can enjoy a refreshing swim even more.
For dinner, how about a freshly baked pizza from FriesenEck right at the campsite – the dough is lovingly handmade here.
Day II – Discover Jever: Old Town, Castle & Brewing
Today, experience Frisian charm in the beautiful town of Jever, about 15 minutes by car (Friesenflitzer rental available at the dock) or around 90 minutes by e-bike, passing meadows and forests.
Stroll through the old town with its small shops, treat yourself to ice cream at the castle square, or visit the castle museum with its magnificent castle garden.
A visit to the Frisian brewery is highly recommended. Here, you can learn about the history of Jever beer – with a tasting, of course.
A walk through the Graftanlagen (waterways) around the old town is very picturesque – perfect for photos. In summer, the area blooms in vibrant colors.
End the evening relaxed by Lake Friesensee – perhaps with a cool drink at the beach.
Day III – Maritime Day in Wilhelmshaven
A day by the sea awaits – Wilhelmshaven is only about 35 minutes from Lake Friesensee and is full of maritime experiences. Start your trip at the South Beach, where the fresh North Sea air and the view of the water immediately give you holiday vibes. Stroll along the promenade until you reach the German Navy Museum. Here, you’ll learn fascinating facts about the history of the navy – interactive and right by the harbor. Next door, the Coastal Museum invites you to explore the history and culture of the North Sea coast: from storm floods and coastal protection to exciting regional exhibits.
A short walk leads you to the impressive Kaiser Wilhelm Bridge, the city’s landmark and a popular photo spot. For an even closer harbor experience, you can take a harbor tour and see the large ships up close. Culinary delights await along the promenade – whether crispy fish & chips, a fresh fish sandwich, or simply a coffee with a sea view. In the late afternoon, return to Lake Friesensee, where you can unwind on the SUP board and enjoy the sunset over the lake.
