From Friesensee towards the coast & Harlesiel
This route takes you from Friesensee northwards towards the Wadden Sea coast.
You cycle through the quiet Wangerland along idyllic paths, past wide fields, small streams, and typical East Frisian hedges, enjoying beautiful panoramic views along the way. The route passes through Wittmund, the district town of the region. Here, it’s worth making a short stop to stroll through the historic old town, admire the charming half-timbered houses, or enjoy a small snack.
Next, the tour continues towards the coast to Carolinensiel, where the museum harbor awaits. The old ships, lovingly restored buildings, and maritime atmosphere make this place a perfect stop – ideal for photos, a break by the water, or a coffee.
At the end of the tour, you reach Harlesiel, the small coastal town right on the Wadden Sea. Here, you can walk along the dike, watch the fishing boats in the harbor, or simply enjoy the fresh North Sea breeze – a perfect finish for your North Sea ride.
Towards Jever – Nature and City Combined
This 1 hour and 20-minute route combines the greenery around Friesland with a lovely city detour to Jever.
You pass open fields, meadows, and streams, experience the typical Lower Saxony landscape, and at the end of the route, approach the historic old town of Jever.
A highlight along the way is the cozy Café de Boer – perfect for a well-deserved coffee break with homemade cake or a hot cappuccino before heading back to Friesensee.

From Friesensee to the Sea: Wittmund, Neuharlingersiel & Harlesiel
This route takes you from Friesensee northwards through the East Frisian landscape to the North Sea coast. First, you cycle through fields and quiet paths towards Wittmund, the lively district town with a beautiful old town and typical half-timbered houses – perfect for a short stop.
Next, the route continues to Neuharlingersiel, a charming coastal town with a lively fishing harbor and North Sea dike – ideal for a break with a view of the water.
